How to make money by blogging on wordpress
A few years ago I just thought blogging was a hobby or just an outlet for moms who stayed how to talk about their kids. But, this last year I’ve learned that bloggers can use their wordpress sites to make money. Some even treat their blogs as their career. Making money through blogs does not necessarily mean that you have to sell products on your website. I talk about all the ways I’ve already made money online here and some of it is already passive income. One good way to make money online is through affiliate marketing. Read on to know how you can start affiliate marketing and make money by blogging on wordpress.
What is affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a kind of win-win situation between a blogger (publishers) and a seller (affiliate). The affiliate chooses the items to be published or sold online, and they have to find a publisher with an appropriate audience where they can place their advertisement. Now, the money comes in to the blogger whenever a customer clicks on the advertisement link and eventually makes a purchase – which then works like a commission. See the benefits it gives to both parties? Affiliate gets to reach out to their market and gain more exposure (not to mention a brand ambassador or endorser), and the blogger gets to make money through their website.
Build a website with wordpress
If you want to start making money online, you have to build your own website first. You’ll need a domain name. I recommend choosing one through namecheap. They provide a privacy which makes it cheaper than other options.
Host your website
Now you’ll need a place to host your domain. A host is the server location that maintains your domain url. The two companies I really like are siteground and ehost.
Install a WordPress Theme
A wordpress theme is what makes your site pretty. I have some free ones you can start with here. But I build all my sites with Divi and it’s really all I recommend because there are so many ways you can build sites.
Create Content
Now that you’ve established a highly attractive blog, you can now start to create content as affiliate companies will want to see your blog is established and active.
Sign up for Affiliate Programs
In the beginning you’ll need to sign up for various affiliate programs. To ensure that you can generate sales, make sure that the products and services you promote are highly relevant to your own content. Otherwise, be creative enough to make any product line appear relevant to your own branding. Ones are recommend are Shareable and Amazon Affiliates to get your started. But later, after your blog has achieved a certain level of reputation, then affiliate companies may be the one to approach you!
Learn and Learn more
So you can either send a lot of time trying and trying things and asking people in Facebook groups. But for me in order to save time I had to start learning from people who were already making money online. I feel I jumped a year ahead by invested in a few programs. Some of the programs I learned the most from were from Pajama Affiliate, I was able to pull commission the first month after I brought the program. I also took a course on Pinterest and a course on more ways to generate Traffic. Actually I took a TON of courses which I feel 100% got me success faster than on my own.
Drive Traffic
Now you need to start driving traffic to the new content you created for your affiliate program. Pinterest is a great way to start driving traffic you your blog. I also highly recommend you use a program like Tailwind in order to increase your page views like this. I did a video on Tailwind here.
Tools for Success
There are a couple tools I really believe you need to kick your success into gear. One is a keyword tool like Jaaxy. This tool will help you with SEO and give you long tail keyword ideas to give you a chance in ranking in search engines.
The other tool I use for Amazon affiliates is Easy Products Display. This tool makes your Amazon links look so much better than the normal amazon links you get when you sign up.
Get an autoresponder so you can capture emails and build an asset of customers. The one I use now is Active Campaign.
Finally you need a tool like PicMonkey to create pinterest and Facebook images.
It’s not a get rich quick
Simply having a blog may not guarantee you to be a legit affiliate marketer. Also Affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick you need to work hard to start generating a online income. So better get up, work hard to create an attention-worthy blog site to attract affiliates and start making money!
